West Zone Eye Recovery Technician Workshop - 29th June 2019

On June 29th , 2019 the workshop for Eye Recovery Technicians (In-situ-excision) was successfully organized at Thane hosted by MGRC Sahiyara Eye Bank under the aegis of EBAI

Inauguration was done with lamp lighting by Trustees of MGRC Sahiyara Eye Bank , Chairperson West Zone Dr.Rakesh Shah, Manager of Sahiyara Ms.Supriya Hirve, Ganesh from EBAI, Dr.P.K.Deshmukh NPCB District Program Manager, Anurag Taneja, Director of Sightlife and members of organizing committee of west zone.

Live Demo was given for In-situ-excision procedure for Aseptic and surgical technique by Mr.G.Srinivas , RIEB-LVPEI and Mr.Arvind Kumar Akula, Vasan Eye Bank.

98 participants from different parts of Maharashtra like Jalna, Washim, Ahmednagar, Jalgaon, Sangli, Pune, Nashik, Amravati, Wardha, Thane, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai and from Gujarat Valsad, Surat, Baroda and Ahmedabad attended this workshop.

68 participants were given hands on training and they learnt about best standard practices and upgraded their skills in in-situ-corneoscleral excision procedure. Out of these most of them were fresher and somen 10/12 technicians who are doing in situ recovery from more than 2/3 years were assessed.

This was the first ever kind of EBAI Zonal ERT workshop in India which got tremendous response from all eye banks of west zone.

All efforts of Ms.Supriya Hirve, a passionate eye banker to conduct such kind of the workshop was to develop more Recovery Technicians and to improve utilization rate of West Zone are commendable .

Dr.Rakesh Shah explained the importance of training in-situ-recovery and to have such more workshops on different topics of eye banking.
